DAY NUMBER ONE

Grashoppers are singing louder.
There are much more people in here.
It becomes dark earlier.
5 times in day you can hear an inviatation song to pray from mosks.
Ciggarets are much more expensive.
Time is passing faster.

After around 11 hour long journey from Riga Airport to Balikesir I arrived in place, which I further call my home. I`m sharing a very nice 5-room flat with 2 more volunteers - Ray from Latvia, Boris from Estonia and coordinator of my organisation - Gamze. For a while also Mert (our temporary menthor) is living here, but he will leave us at the very beggining of October.
I have my own room, which is almost better, that my room in Latvia. Just here on the showy-green carpet you will not find holes from coals of waterpipe. I have a bed, desk, wardrobe and some few more furniture in here.
I couldn`t wait, that`s why I seetled into my room already in night.
Toninght I sticked all my pictures on the wall, to imitate the feeling of home a little and to be together with my dear friends every day.
Today we went to explore Balikesir and I`m pretty sure, that I will never be able to find something in this city, without the help of local turkish guide. City is quite big for me, as a latvian, but small for turkish people. I forgot the population, but I`m pretty sure, that you can find it in mother Google. Al the buildings, shops, streets - everything is so similar in here.
We visited our host-organisation GESOGED as well. There we met our coordinator Gamze and both of her bosses - Fahri and Erhan. We met other volunteer girls as well - Kata (Hungary), Tatyana (Ukraine) and there should be one more - Anna (Spain). Girls are here for 6 months alrady.
If I can belive in them, I will have a lot of free time, parties, trips and fun. Of course - this is very important part of EVS as well, but I think it depends on everybody. I want to work here and leave some good things and memories after my leaving. So, I`ll try to do my best.
For the time being I`m full of energy and enthusiasm and iniative.

Tonight I spoke also with my old friend Volkan from Ankara. He told me, that now the Ramazan fest is going on. It means, that there is VETO for eating, drinking and having sex almost all day long. How cool is that? :D
But it also means, that there will be holidays next weekend, so I`m planning to go to the capital city. I should look for some cheap ways, how to do it. Train costs around 15 lira (8 euro). But it takes around 12 hours on way :D
So, this is the end of my first day here. Not so bad for the beggining :) Now I`m full,. I just ate too much of welcoming dinner cooked by Mert. I should  go to bed.

C ya. :)
